A winter day in January is short; twilight the whole day and a heavy, navy blue sky. We think it is so incredibly beautiful! On our Blue Taiga trip you will see the mountains in a slightly different light.
Blue Taiga is a 4-day trip in January. It begins after lunch at Vålådalen Mountain Station, with a short trip into the nearby area. An explanation of Blue Taiga, equipment and packing before dinner in the evening.
The trip to the cabin at Lunndörrspasset starts just after breakfast. We move through beautiful spruce forest and across broad marshes. Ahead of us: Lunndörren and the mountain summits around the pass. After lunch, we continue through the strange, still, navy blue daylight. The beams of the headtorches give this trip a new dimension. Eventually – the outline of a building. A lantern in the window and the smell of a birch-wood fire.
On the third day there is a choice of outings: The Pyramids, Issjödalen, Santa or Lunndörrspasset. The temperature and snow conditions provide different route options. Whatever your choice, the pale January light will amaze and astound you. Round off with a wood-fired sauna and good food.
On day four, we return to Vålådalen. Tracks in the snow. Elk, reindeer, fox and hare. Sometimes wolverine or lynx. Perhaps an idea occurs to you, imagine carrying on. One more day…
But back at Vålådalen the ski trip is over. A hot sauna can provide some comfort, as can something good to eat. After your sauna – thank yous and farewells, for this time!
In the evening, you can either catch the night train home or stay at the mountain station.
